If new moons are times that contain the energy most conducive to wiping the slate clean for new beginnings, then solar eclipses - new moons infused with the power of accelerated evolution - carry that same potential in ways that are infinitely more potent. Eclipses bring issues to the forefront of our consciousness in ways that are undeniably clear. These times present us with truths we must work with in order to embody our life's purpose more fully. Events that happen now feel "fated" and mark an irrevocable turning point in our lives.
This week's Supermoon Solar Eclipse at 18 degrees Pisces can put us into a much deeper intuitive flow and set powerful spiritual and creative processes into motion. We will soon be awash with a cleansing tide of cosmic energy, one that opens doorways to the imagination and can nourish the soul to give birth to its highest potential. We also may find we're called to let go of something we hold dear in order to reach a new plateau in our lives. If you are experiencing grief and sadness now, a core part of your current learning may center on learning to embrace a new kind of love, one that goes beyond conditions and attachment. If you feel lost or are hurting, one of the greatest give you can give yourself is your own gentle love and kindness.
Were you experiencing major life events 19 years ago that connect to themes in your life now? Eclipses cycle back around about every 19 years, giving us a chance to weave that fabric of evolution throughout our lives. This eclipse series (Saros Series 18 South) will revisit us again in 2034.
Limitations As a Catalyst For Change
Though the desire to transcend reality is strong, a hard aspect from Saturn to the Sun/Moon and Jupiter seems to sit squarely between us and those things we so very much want to experience. Anything from bills to health to current responsibilities that block us will loom even more largely at this time. These restrictions are typical Saturn stuff, as well as Jupiter in Virgo asking us to expand our lives through attentiveness and smalls steps forward. Saturn always presents us with a crystal-clear picture of what is - sometimes making us feel as though there is no hope for "living the dream" - but really shows us where we can succeed if we combine work ethic with faith. Pisces/Neptune highlights a freer essence at this eclipse, one where love and imagination reign. When we merge these elements together, we have an amazing celestial combination for transcending Saturn's limitations and Neptune's "all dream and no do/pie in the sky" tendencies. With the Saturn-Neptune square through 2017, we are presented with crises in order to transcend limitations through love and intuition.
It's All In The Doing...
This eclipse can open the gates to making dreams come alive in a big way if we make the most of opportunities and keep love at the center of our journey. Over the next six months or longer, we'll do well to approach the creation of our desires from all angles, staying open to all the possibilities and letting go of old constructs when they become a hindrance to our progress.
A good plan for long-term success after this eclipse might go something like this:
Dream!
Plan!
Play!
...and DO make consistently smart choices to keep the energy moving and stay inspired!
It might be something as simple as tracking expenses and conscientiously saving little bits of money, or being more conscious of daily habits and wellness choices. Are scheduling snafus tripping you up and keeping you from using your time wisely when efficiency is of the utmost importance? Are you adhering too strictly to schedules and not honoring your playful side, blocking the flow of creativity and innovative solutions that lie hidden in your unconscious mind? As Jupiter/North Node in Virgo continues to teach us, the tiniest choices made over time do add up for incredible results.
Of Loss, Love, and Letting Go...
To add another layer of understanding to this spring's eclipses, Bernadette Brady gives her interpretation of the Saros Series 18 South eclipses in Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and The Lark:
"This family of eclipses is concerned with endings or separations. Thus when it affects a chart individuals will find themselves dealing with a parting. This parting can be anything from a friend traveling overseas and the saying of goodbyes to the ending of a relationship with a loved one, which could bring much anguish or grief. However, the pain of the separation is lessened by encountering new situations which lead to very positive outcomes."
Pisces so often calls us to let go so we can learn what unconditional love really feels like. It's here that we can experience love that transcends the pain of loss through saying goodbye to a person, place, or thing; to learn to trust the process of life in knowing that every ending surely leads to another beginning. The love of Pisces is the love of Mother/Father God itself, a love that flows through all of Creation beyond any boundary our human minds could construct. Can you open your heart to love of yourself and others through changes that manifest at this time?
**This eclipse will have the strongest effect on those with planets or sensitive points from 16-20 degrees of Pisces/Virgo, and from 17-19 degrees of Sagittarius/Gemini.**
