This is also a powerful new lunar cycle for Creation and Birth in general, since Cancer is the Great Mother and all that is associated with fertility and abundance; she carries the new forward into life.
As a Cancer Moon native, I know very well that there are in times that require us to sit with our feelings, no matter how irrational they might seem to ourselves and others. As the Moon is ever-changing in the sky and rules our emotional/subjective selves, those who have Cancer prominently in the natal chart will experience significant emotional fluctuations on a regular basis - perhaps more than any other sign. And we are all far more attuned to the Cancerian vibe now than usual due to this intense new moon.
I found myself postponing other plans this afternoon when some of my own deep past wounds were triggered this afternoon (having this new moon occurring within a few degrees of my own Cancer Moon is quite the potent catalyst for a flood of emotional overwhelm). In setting aside time and safe space to feel and then let the past go rather than burying or avoiding those feelings, I was able to move through a period of intense grief and experience more peace in my heart.
It's in this space of communion with the vast landscape of feeling - a place of watery flux and vulnerability that can be entirely overwhelming at times - that our hearts can be cleansed and purified of all that causes grief. Some would confuse this approach with "wallowing" in unproductive emotional states (which the sign of Cancer can easily fall into, as well as being quite sentimental in ways that keeps one stuck in the past). But in truth, there is an art to honoring feelings in a way that allows us to move through them and back to a more grounded, tranquil state of being. We are by our very nature emotional beings, and many of us will come out of this new moon not having much of a choice but to yield to that aspect of our nature.
The Saturn-Neptune Connection: Washing Away Restrictions & Dross
Tomorrow's Cancer New Moon plugs right into the ongoing Saturn-Neptune square, and falls on the U.S. Independence Day. The synchronicity of these events is telling. Freedom from restrictions or from a lack of stable foundation - this time, emotional freedom re: family issues, women's issues, and all things related to soul memories and our "tribe" - come front and center. I found myself sitting with father and Divine Masculine issues that are deeply rooted in childhood experiences: the stuff of both Cancer and Saturn. This kind of inner work and acknowledgment of pain is never easy, but full recognition and transmuting of the pain we carry is the clearest pathway to emotional liberation now.
The Sun/Moon/Mercury trine Neptune, opening a deep well of emotions that are ready to spill forth and wash away the old...powerfully, but held gently in a space of Cancerian warmth and tenderness. With Pluto opposing those points, there could be some exceptionally heavy and even frightening emotional moments. Peeling away painful layers of feelings associated with childhood, buried traumas and any fears is never easy, rest assured it will only emerge now if it is for your Highest Good to face it.
Love, Love, Love: Honoring Your Inner Child
This is an exceptionally wonderful time to nurture your Inner Child, listening deeply to what He/She has to say. Anything that makes us feel raw and vulnerable could emerge, at which time we can make the choice to create a sanctuary space within which healing can occur. We owe ourselves the gift of our own love and compassion, as well as connecting with others whom are safe and feel like home to us.
Get into the essence of what your heart is saying; nestle in with the ones you love; write, create, swim, doing anything that soothes the soul and helps clear the way for an exceptional fertile kind of seed planting. Though "triggers" are sure to be a part of the mix, this really is a beautiful time to share intimate moments with your tribe, whatever "tribe" might mean to you. Let your guard down to the right people, allowing love and intuitive sensing to guide your way.
What seeds will you plant for a life more full of love and freedom as old grief and pain are washed away?
